Description
Characteristics
The main function of alcohol is to ensure the rapid transfer of the fountain solution and to level the water film, allowing the fountain solution to form a thin, uniform layer on the dampening rollers and the printing plate.
Properties
-
Functions as a dampening agent: adding 5% isopropyl alcohol to tap water reduces surface tension from 75 mN/m to 50 mN/m
-
Provides lubricating action, preventing excessive friction
-
Enhances selective wetting of the printing plate
-
Improves solution transfer within the dampening system
-
Evaporates rapidly without accumulating on rollers or ink
-
Reduces ink emulsification and supports a stable ink-water balance
Application of Isopropanol
- The optimal dosage of alcohol is 5-12% of the dampening solution volume, depending on printing conditions.
- Adding 5% isopropanol to water reduces surface tension from 75 mN/m to 50 mN/m.
- A 10% IPA concentration increases water viscosity from 1 mm²/s to 1.5 mm²/s.
- Recommended dampening solution parameters: pH 4.9-5.5, 800-1600 μS.
- For a precise selection of additives based on production specifics and water type, we recommend consulting SNE.T technical support.
- To maintain the dampening system clean, a quick flush using Chembyo A+B is recommended.
CAUTION – TOXIC!
Storage Conditions:
- Store at a temperature not below 6°C and not above 40°C.
- Keep the container tightly sealed.
- Avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Packaging: 20L, 200L, 1000L
